Wayland's Finance Committee Appointing Board approves annual report as chair prepares to exit
Finance Committee Appointing Board · Meeting of August 20, 2026
Wayland's Finance Committee Appointing Board loses its chair Sept. 1. Cherry C. Karlson told colleagues at the board's Aug. 20 Zoom meeting she will not seek reappointment after three years leading the three-member panel, which was created by a 2023 Town Meeting bylaw to vet Finance Committee volunteers.
Members Carol B. Martin and Miranda S. Jones will continue, with Jones calling the next meeting and the board electing a new chair as its first order of business.
The board voted 3-0 to approve its 2026 annual report as amended (a template error reading "Belmont" on page two will be corrected before the September filing deadline), and 3-0 to approve July 14 minutes as amended after Martin flagged an error describing a recent appointee's wife as sitting on the School Committee. "Beautifully written, clear, concise, bam, we're out of there," Martin said of Karlson's draft report. Two Finance Committee seats are expected up in 2027.
