Wayland assessors commit $96,711 in motor vehicle excise bills
WAYLAND — September 21, 2023 — Wayland assessors commit $96,711 in motor vehicle excise bills in eight-minute remote meeting. The Board of Assessors voted 3-0 Thursday to issue the fifth fiscal 2024 motor vehicle and trailer excise commitment — 364 bills against $8,862,949 in valuation — with bills going out Sept. 22. Chair Zachariah L. Ventress, Vice-Chair Philip David Parks and member Steven Klitgord were the only members present; two other recent meetings were canceled for lack of quorum. The board also approved 16 August abatements totaling $4,526.50 with "no denials," and ratified two rescinded July abatements worth $822.56, lowering that month's net abatement total to $2,912.19. A Sept. 25 meeting was scrapped for Yom Kippur and a Sept. 26 backup canceled for lack of quorum.
