Housing Partnership defers votes after failing to reach quorum

WAYLAND — September 20, 2023 — Wayland Housing Partnership convenes without quorum, defers annual report and ADU position. Chair Mary M. Antes told members the annual report due by month's end will be submitted as a draft pending a vote at the Oct. 25 meeting, after only four members and Housing Trust representative Jacqueline Espirtusanto-Vega attended. Kathleen Boundy walked the committee through proposed state legislation overriding local zoning for elderly and disabled ADUs, warning that a carve-out preserving building, fire and wetlands codes could be "an exception to swallow the rule." Antes reported the Housing Trust rejected a sole bid exceeding $1 million for a single unit at 11 Hammond Road and passed on a $500,000-to-$600,000 teardown at 10 Pequot Road, citing prevailing-wage constraints. The town also received a $30,000 community planning grant for MBTA Communities work.
