Wayland assessors approve final 2024 motor vehicle excise commitment

WAYLAND — March 3, 2025 — Wayland assessors clear final 2024 excise commitment and brace for 45 abatement votes. Meeting remotely March 3, the Board of Assessors unanimously approved the seventh and final motor vehicle and trailer excise commitment for calendar 2024, totaling $22,083.64 on a $7,434,319 valuation, with Vice-Chair Philip David Parks, Steven Klitgord and Douglass McNeilly voting yes. Director of Assessing Rob said 45 fiscal 2025 real estate abatements are in hand, including a Department of Revenue case involving Level 3 Communications and cleanup items on parcels now held by tax-exempt entities. He also reported the tax collector mailed 958 delinquent excise notices reaching back to 2002, calling the effort an attempt to "clear the books."
