Wayland appoints Giudici and Aksa to Finance Committee, leaves third seat open

WAYLAND — July 16, 2024 — Wayland appoints two to Finance Committee but leaves third seat open. The Finance Committee Appointing Board voted 3-0 on July 16 to name Phil Giudici to a term ending June 30, 2027, and Iris Aksa to a term ending June 30, 2026, passing over third candidate Steve Glovsky. Chair Cherry C. Karlson said she was "not comfortable" appointing Glovsky, citing his approach to a potential Proposition 2½ override. Town Moderator Miranda S. Jones and Select Board Chair Bill Whitney joined her on the appointing board. The panel also weighed a request from longtime member Brian O'Herlihy for a one-year reappointment — an option not in town code — and Karlson said she would consult town counsel on whether term-end dates can be shifted without returning to Town Meeting. The board approved Nov. 30 minutes 3-0 and May 6 minutes 2-0-1.
