Select Board refers three zoning articles to Planning Board ahead of town meeting

WAYLAND -- January 22, 2024, Wayland Select Board refers three zoning articles to Planning Board, queues 40 for town meeting. The board voted 5-0 Monday to refer Article T (MBTA Communities), Article KK (retail cell storage) and Article NN (a solar compact) to the Planning Board under Chapter 40A, Section 5, with member Adam Gutzel saying he would "much rather that we err on the side of caution." Member Carol Martin, who drafted the assignment list, urged consolidating the seven Community Preservation Committee articles, including a $28,000 housing consultant grant, calling the current format "a lot of pages" and "a cost." The board unanimously appointed Annabelle Zhang to the Cultural Council as a voting member through June 30, 2026, and inserted a standard CPA set-asides and transfers article. Members set a Feb. 25 internal target against a March 20 warrant deadline and began assembling materials for Town Manager Michael McCall's first-year evaluation, due in late February.
