Select Board approves Sperry's all-alcohol license, fire union contract

WAYLAND -- January 25, 2016, Wayland Select Board greenlights Sperry's all-alcohol license and firefighters' contract. Meeting Jan. 25, the board unanimously approved Eastbrook Inc.'s new all-alcoholic beverage license at 87 Andrew Ave. after attorney Bruin noted the store has passed "six for six" police compliance checks since opening in May 2014; the existing wine-and-malt license will be surrendered. The board also ratified two memoranda of agreement with IAFF Local 178 covering July 2013 through June 2017, and approved four Chapter 71, Section 26 school revolving funds, BASE, global language, tutoring and enrichment, adopted by the School Committee on Nov. 30. Town Clerk Beth Klein-Wilson won approval to add three offices to the April ballot following Cynthia Hill's resignation from the Board of Health, with nomination papers due by 5 p.m. Feb. 16. Chair Carol B. Martin said of the ballot changes, "I don't think we can over-communicate."
