Select Board appoints Mike Grant to fill Recreation Commission vacancy

The board voted 4-0 Monday to seat Grant, a nine-year resident and youth sports coach, over former commission chair Brad Wright for a term running through the 2026 annual town meeting; member Doug Levine, the commission liaison, moved the nomination. The board also approved fee increases unchanged since 2010, raising the all-alcohol restaurant license from $2,000 to $3,000, marriage intentions from $30 to $35, and gasoline storage permits from $50 to $100, with Building Department fees up 10 to 15 percent. Town Planner Robert Hummel presented a completed Route 20 Corridor Master Plan envisioning mixed-use redevelopment over "20 to 30 years," prompting member Thomas J. Fay to push for a multi-board task force. Fire Chief Neil McPherson swore in three new firefighter-paramedics and promoted Timothy Dempsey to lieutenant.
