Loker field on track for Columbus Day handover, builder tells PMBC

WAYLAND — August 29, 2023 — Wayland's Loker recreation field nears Columbus Day handover as committee eyes security cameras. Brandon Kunkel of Weston & Sampson told the Permanent Municipal Building Committee on Tuesday the project is "between 90 and 95 percent complete" after roughly 120 days of construction, with final paving in place and landscape establishment underway following storm-related erosion. Licensed site professional Susan Jason said MassDEP filings — a RAM completion report and permanent solution statement — have been submitted, with a mandatory public involvement meeting set for 6:30 p.m. Sept. 13 at Town Hall. About $100,000 remains in the budget after a post-construction traffic study and soccer goals, and members pressed to spend some of it on cameras and possibly a gate, citing vandalism at Oxbow and Chichewitt fields. The committee lacked a quorum and adjourned at 7 p.m. without voting.
