WAYLAND — Wayland High School football blasted Acton-Boxborough 47-30 on Friday at Stadium Field in the highest-scoring game of its season, while the rest of the Warriors' fall teams split results across soccer, volleyball and field hockey during a busy week of play.

HIGH SCHOOL

Football kept its unbeaten season rolling Friday night, outscoring Acton-Boxborough 47-30 in a track meet of a game at Stadium Field. The 77 combined points were by far the most scoring Wayland has been part of this fall, a sign of an offense that is clicking even as the defense gave up more points than usual. The win keeps the Warriors unbeaten heading into the back half of October.

Boys soccer bounced back from last week's streak-ending loss with a statement result, beating Boston Latin School 7-2 on the road Tuesday. But the Warriors could not carry that momentum into Thursday's home game against Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School, falling 0-1 in a tight, defensive battle at Stadium Field. Wayland also traveled to Dearborn STEM Academy on Saturday; results were not available by press time. The split week shows a team still finding its footing after its unbeaten run ended earlier this month.

Girls soccer also had an up-and-down week. The Warriors beat Boston Latin 2-0 at home Tuesday, then dropped a 1-2 decision at Lincoln-Sudbury on Thursday before fighting to a scoreless tie against Grafton High School on Saturday at Stadium Field. The junior varsity squad had a better week, beating Grafton 3-1 after tying Lincoln-Sudbury 1-1, showing depth in the program even as the varsity results stayed mixed.

Volleyball answered a tough loss with a strong response. The Warriors fell 1-3 in sets at Lincoln-Sudbury on Tuesday, then regrouped to beat Concord-Carlisle 3-1 in sets Friday at the Field House. The junior varsity team also beat Concord-Carlisle, winning 2-1 in sets, while the freshman squad lost 0-2. The varsity rebound is a good sign for a team looking to build consistency through the rest of the season.

Field hockey's difficult stretch continued. The Warriors were shut out 0-9 at Lincoln-Sudbury on Tuesday and fell 0-3 at home to Concord-Carlisle on Friday at Stadium Field. The lopsided scores mark another setback for a program still searching for its first win this fall, and Friday's junior varsity game against Concord-Carlisle was canceled.

YOUTH

Wayland Little League's website now shows that registration for its fall programs is closed, directing families with questions to the league's registrar. The announcement comes as the league continues to tout the newly completed dugouts at Cochituate Park, built through the Eliza J. Norton Foundation's "Build with Heart" project, for which Wayland Little League served as a champion sponsor.

Wayland Youth Soccer is building out its committee structure as it works toward what the organization calls "modernization." The group is actively recruiting chairs for its Finance Advisory and Governance and Compliance committees, while naming leaders already in place for other areas: Danielle Silverman for Coaching and Player Development, Lesley Stewart for Community, Events and Partnerships, Will Lee for Technology, Kelly Pierce for Fields and Scheduling, Matt DiRoberto and Sam Girgis for Equipment and Merchandise, Brud Wright for Referee Development, and Zack Ventress for Finance Advisory. The organization is asking interested volunteers to fill out an online form to get involved.

LOOKING AHEAD

Football will look to push its unbeaten record further next week, while boys soccer tries to find steadier footing after splitting its results against Boston Latin and Lincoln-Sudbury. Volleyball will look to build on Friday's win over Concord-Carlisle, and field hockey will be chasing its first win of the season as the fall schedule heads toward its final stretch before tournament seeding.
