Finance Committee endorses six warrant articles ahead of spring town meeting
WAYLAND — March 8, 2023 — Wayland Finance Committee recommends six warrant articles, with one contingent vote and one abstention. The five-member panel voted 5-0-0 Wednesday to recommend Article G, covering a 3.3 percent market salary adjustment worth $113,500 for non-union employees, but conditioned the recommendation on the Personnel Board approving the underlying wage and classification table at its Friday meeting; if that vote fails, the recommendation flips to a deferral. Members called approval of the table "the non-starter." Article DD, authorizing $524,742 from receipts reserved for sale of real estate to repay debt from pre-construction asbestos remediation at Rivers Edge, passed 4-0-1, with one member abstaining over reconciling the figure against a $465,000 balance on the town's debt amortization schedule. Articles A, F, L and M — including revolving fund caps topped by $972,000 for Recreation, and the sale or trade of six town vehicles — all passed 5-0-0. Final language is due to the town clerk by 10 a.m. Monday.
