Wayland School Committee amends special education reserve article to $150,000

WAYLAND — March 9, 2023 — Wayland School Committee amends special education reserve article to $150,000. At a 10-minute special meeting Thursday, three members — Erin, Jess and Jeannie — voted 3-0 to lower the initial funding figure in the warrant article after the Finance Committee voted Tuesday to fund the reserve at $150,000 using real estate sale proceeds. Chair Chris Ryan was absent. The acting chair said the $150,000 "makes up the difference of what we went back with from the 450," but noted the Finance Committee is still asking the schools to absorb a $600,000 cut from the operating budget. Members also fixed a typo in the article and adjourned without further discussion.
