Community Preservation Committee weighs $3.3 million in requests against $1 million revenue

WAYLAND — December 5, 2024 — Wayland CPC fields $3.3 million in requests against roughly $1 million in fiscal 2026 revenue. Vice Chair Doug Stotz told the Dec. 5 meeting the fund expects $1.2 million from the 1.5 percent property tax surcharge and $204,000 in state matching funds — an 18 percent match, down from historic highs — leaving about $608,000 in new uncommitted money after the $372,000 Mainstone debt payment and three 10 percent set-asides. Major asks include $400,000 from Recreation Director Catherine Brennan for the Children's Way playground, $80,000 from facilities to close out the Stonebridge restoration, $75,000 from the Board of Assessors to restore eight 18th- and 19th-century ledgers and box all 275, and a late application for the state-mandated $2.9 million Snake Brook Dam rehabilitation. Chair Susan Weinstein said projects untouched after 36 months will face clawback at town meeting, naming $125,000 for the 70-74 Main Street facade and $110,000 in library ADA funds. "Requests for uncommitted funds are five times the uncommitted revenues," Stotz said.
