WAYLAND — March 28, 2023 — Wayland building committee authorizes Loker field construction and approves $190,000 environmental amendment. The Permanent Municipal Building Committee voted unanimously Tuesday to let contractor Cataldo begin the Loker recreation grass field once the Licensed Site Professional files the final RAM plan, targeted for April 7, and approved a not-to-exceed $190,000 Amendment 4 to the Weston & Sampson contract. Soil disposal will determine whether the project has $95,000 available to accelerate sod installation or faces a worst-case $235,660 hauling cost for 750 tons. Residents of the River Trail Place complex pressed the committee over the Council on Aging's proposed 100-space lot and Lillian Way driveway, which neighbor Lawrence Butler called "the least attractive, the least efficient, and really the most dangerous" of three options. Architect Kim Tracy said a TBC traffic study is underway; the COA budget has fallen $177,000 after the HVAC was resized from 44 to 34 tons.
