Wayland selectmen review community forum on town administrator search
WAYLAND -- May 7, 2018, Wayland selectmen call community forum on town administrator search constructive but critical. Recruiter Bernie Lynch and colleague Sharon hosted the May 3 session, which drew about 15 attendees including three selectmen and five of seven screening committee members. Board members said the tone "tended a little bit towards the negative," with residents pressing on decentralized town structure, wetlands limits on economic development, and short administrator tenures; Lynch said four to five years is the national average. The biggest unresolved question, members said, was whether candidates will commit before voters act on a special act restructuring budgeting. The board also voted 5-0 to appoint the Rev. David O'Leary to the Wayland Housing Partnership, replacing Stephanie May, and 5-0 to approve April 23 minutes as amended. Town Administrator Nan Balmer endorsed a planned Finance Committee MOU as "incremental steps towards what the special act envisions."
