Wayland selectmen back limited on-street parking for Or Atid high holidays
WAYLAND -- July 16, 2018, Wayland selectmen back limited on-street parking for Congregation Or Atid. Sitting as the traffic commission, the Board of Selectmen voted 5-0 Monday to recommend the Planning Board amend a 2001 site plan condition and allow on-street parking along Concord Road for Jewish High Holidays and occasional large funerals, roughly 15 hours a year. Police Chief Pat Swanick's conditions require a 75-foot no-parking buffer from Claypit Hill Road, parking on only one side of Concord Road, and bans on Training Field Road, Gleason Lane and Claypit Hill Road. Attorney Brian Levy, representing the congregation, said the police department had been directing cars to park on the street for five years without realizing the 2001 ban existed. Neighbor Annette Lewis, who described a near-miss last fall, called the revised plan "palatable." The board also approved police and AFSCME union agreements, an FY20 budget policy, and a private-road plowing appeal process, all 5-0.
