Chair Carol Martin told the board Tuesday that staff identified only one viable schedule, a May 7 town election and sessions May 13 and 14, after an earlier draft placed voting on the last day of Passover. The board unanimously appointed Boston University scientist Raul Ray to the Cultural Council and confirmed Heidi Ellis to the Youth Advisory Committee, both for terms ending June 30, 2026. Acting Chief Ed Berman introduced lateral hire Officer Joseph Froyer and reported a federal grant covering 50 percent of bulletproof vest costs, currently about $1,200 each. Town Manager Michael McCall said state Reps. Carmine Gentile and David Linsky are helping relocate businesses, including Liberty Pizza, displaced by the Main Street fire.
