WAYLAND — October 25, 2023 — Wayland sets Dec. 6 special town meeting after Oct. 23 citizen petition. The Select Board voted 4-0 Wednesday to convene at 6:45 p.m. on Dec. 6 and to open the warrant from Oct. 26 through close of business Nov. 1, on a motion from member Thomas J. Fay. Chair William Whitney presided; Vice-Chair Doug Levine and Christopher Reynolds were absent. Town Clerk Trudy Reed laid out a calendar squeezed by Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, a 14-day mail-out requirement and a 10-day printer turnaround, with Nov. 22 the last possible posting date. Town Moderator Marianne told the board Dec. 6 was her preference over Nov. 30. Member Carol B. Martin urged restraint on additional money articles, warning "this is not the piggy bank's open."
