Housing Partnership directs consultant hours toward supportive housing site hunt

WAYLAND — October 25, 2023 — Wayland Housing Partnership redirects consultant hours to hunt for a supportive housing site. The committee voted unanimously Wednesday to ask the Municipal Affordable Housing Trust to allocate 20 to 30 hours of the town's existing Regional Housing Services Office contract toward a siting analysis, after member Catherine Provost reported the project has stalled because "you have to identify the site and then you find the service provider." Chair Mary Antes said the town funds roughly 100 RHSO hours annually but has not used them. Member Rachel Bratt reported the St. Anne's affordable project, managed by the Planning Office of Urban Affairs, is on track to apply for state low-income housing tax credits in February. Member Kathleen Boundy compared three state ADU bills against Gov. Maura Healey's new $4.1 billion housing bond bill, calling the governor's by-right ADU provisions the most progressive. The committee meets next Nov. 29.
