Wayland Select Board sends $3.8 million Loker roof debt exclusion to voters
WAYLAND -- February 13, 2020, Wayland Select Board votes 4-0 to put a $3.8 million Loker roof debt exclusion on the ballot. Chair Carol B. Martin led the board through final ballot language Thursday for a Proposition 2 1/2 exclusion to fund roof replacement at Loker Elementary School, 47 Loker Street, with Vice-Chair Doug Levine absent. Martin said the Finance Committee agreed to fund the full $4.3 million project, with $3.8 million via debt exclusion and the remaining $500,000 through a mechanism still being determined. The Massachusetts School Building Authority advised leaving the dollar figure out of the ballot question itself because of the project's "partially excluded debt, partially not" structure, and asked to review the warrant article and motion before final approval. Martin also told the board a separate $200,000 high school field design article appears headed to town meeting as a standalone item.
