Wayland Select Board receives $82.8 million draft FY20 budget on schedule
WAYLAND -- December 17, 2018, Wayland delivers a $82.8M draft FY20 budget a month early and books a clean FY18 audit. Town Administrator Louise Miller and Finance Director Brian Keveny submitted the draft to the Finance Committee on Dec. 14, hitting the 3.68 percent increase target set in September, with $18.3M town, $41.9M schools and $22.6M unclassified. The projected tax rate rises to $18.56 from $18.28. Auditor Scott McIntyre of Melanson Heath reported unassigned fund balance grew about $900,000 to $11.8M, roughly 15 percent of revenues, and called the records in "good working order." The board voted 4-0 to lock in a 30-year historic preservation restriction protecting the town's $80,000 window grant to the Trinitarian Congregational Church, approved four license renewals 4-0, and directed staff to draft a town meeting article funding the $812,000 actuarially determined OPEB contribution. Two new officers, Kristen Oberlander and Tyler Reeves, were sworn in.
