Wayland Select Board postpones two liquor license decisions to January
WAYLAND — December 27, 2023 — Wayland Select Board defers two liquor license amendments to Jan. 3. Meeting remotely Wednesday, Chair William Whitney, Carol B. Martin and Thomas J. Fay continued requests from CNC Golf LLC (X-Golf Wayland) to open Sundays at 10 a.m. instead of noon, and a corporate name change for Zeng Group Inc. (Takara Japanese Restaurant), after Fay said he wanted to know whether any other Wayland establishment serves alcohol that early on a Sunday and whether the Takara filing was "more than" a simple renaming. "I'm not inclined to make this exception," Fay said of the earlier hours. Town Manager Michael McCall agreed to research state Sunday-hours rules. Martin also flagged three outstanding annual renewals — Einstein Bagels, The Bagel Table and Wayland Imports — warning, "If we don't do that we'll have no bagels." The board approved its consent calendar and Dec. 4 and Dec. 6 minutes on 3-0 roll-call votes and adjourned at 4:27 p.m. A Jan. 3 public forum on a Commonwealth Road zoning article was confirmed for 7 p.m. in the large hearing room.
