Wayland assessors commit $44.8 million in FY2024 second-half tax warrants

WAYLAND -- December 20, 2023, Wayland assessors commit $44.8 million in FY2024 third- and fourth-quarter tax warrants. Meeting remotely Dec. 20, the Board of Assessors unanimously approved 12 separate warrants totaling $44,836,944.30, led by a $43,292,300.41 real estate commitment and $577,527.18 in personal property taxes. Chair Zachariah L. Ventress, Vice-Chair Philip David Parks and a third member identified as Sharon Burke voted yes on every motion. Smaller items included $593,314.45 in CPA surcharges, $158,826.20 in Town Center wastewater betterments with $85,814.41 in betterment interest, $99,416.15 in water lien fees, and $16,600 in fines against commercial owners who failed to return income and expense surveys. "This is wastewater, yes," staff clarified on the Town Center line. The board then entered executive session to review FY2024 senior work-off participants and statutory abatements.
