Wayland Select Board lifts used-car cap at Wayland Automotive from five to 19
WAYLAND -- December 4, 2017, Wayland Select Board lifts Wayland Automotive's used-car cap from five to 19 in unanimous vote. The 5-0 decision Monday renews the Class II license at 322 Commonwealth Road for co-owners Rich Devlin and Eli Elias, conditioned on "all reasonable efforts" to confine deliveries, fuel drops and car-carrier traffic to 8 a.m.–8 p.m., curb truck idling, and shield neighbors from new motion lighting. Caulfield Road abutters, including Joy Alamger and Christopher Gagne, warned of fumes and noise; Nancy Leifer told the board she had counted 47 cars on the lot Sunday, calling it "a trust situation." Building Commissioner Jeff said 19 falls below the 20-car threshold that would force Zoning Board of Appeals review. Separately, UniBank advisor Clark Roll modeled $38 million in debt for the "big four", a $19 million library local share, $8.9 million school fields, $5.4 million Council on Aging and $4.7 million town building, against a roughly $28 million shortfall in five-year capital requests.
