Wayland Select Board defers liaison reshuffle, approves consent 3-0

WAYLAND — May 22, 2023 — Wayland Select Board defers liaison reshuffle after chair seeks heavier load. Meeting remotely on May 22 with two of five seats empty, Chair William Whitney said he was carrying only four liaison assignments while colleagues held six to eight and wanted to pick up economic development, the Permanent Municipal Building Committee and the Finance Committee. "I feel I'm not pulling my fair share of the load," Whitney said. A motion to approve the May 15 draft assignment list was withdrawn so absent members Tom Fay and Ann could weigh in; Carol Martin said she would keep her Finance Committee seat after recently swapping out of schools. The board approved its consent calendar 3-0 and adjourned. Town Manager Michael McCall called the prior day's multicultural festival "a tremendous success."
