WAYLAND -- August 10, 2020, Wayland Select Board fills assessor seat and clears cable plan for Comcast negotiations. The joint Select Board–Board of Assessors meeting voted 9-0 to appoint Massimo Torosano to the vacancy left by Jason Brody's resignation, and 5-0 to seat bookkeeper Debbie Voigt on the Audit Committee. Members unanimously authorized the Cable Advisory Committee, led by member Doug Levine and WayCAM's Jim Mullane, to submit a 10-year business plan, including a $15,000 annual equipment line and three studio build-out options, to KP Law attorney Bill Hewig for talks with Comcast, whose license expires in September. Mullane reported WayCAM website traffic rose to 16,238 visitors in June and July from 3,700 a year earlier. The board voted 5-0 to support a River's Edge easement article, 0-5 against a citizen petition to return Council on Aging Community Center funds, and took no position on repealing Chapter 53 of the Acts of 2010. Town Administrator Louise Miller disclosed a bid from BOS Retail One LLC offering a Town Center parcel for a "nominal amount" as a potential senior center site.
