Wayland Select Board advances Loker roof application, weighs $13 million debt exclusion
WAYLAND -- February 4, 2019, Wayland Select Board advances Loker roof SOI and weighs $13 million debt exclusion package. The board voted 4-0 Monday to submit a statement of interest to the Massachusetts School Building Authority for a complete roof replacement at Loker Elementary School, estimated at $1.2 million, and to delegate signature authority to Town Administrator Louise Miller. Finance Committee Chair Carol Martin recommended a roughly $13 million debt exclusion at April town meeting to fund high school athletic field renovations, a Loker turf field and about $1.5 million in bundled capital items, saying the structure would preserve levy room and delay an operating override. Selectman Lea Anderson warned that bundling stormwater and MS4-required work into one question could put mandatory projects at risk. The board also approved New Sandy Burr Inc.'s name change and conversion to an annual all-alcoholic license 4-0, and appointed Lauren Zajac to the Cable Advisory Committee.
