Wayland screening committee picks Anderson as chair, sets two interview nights
WAYLAND — November 16, 2022 — Wayland's Town Manager Screening Committee elects Lee Anderson chair and accelerates its interview calendar. The seven-member panel voted unanimously Wednesday to install Anderson after search consultant Mike Gillette of GovHR explained that open meeting law requires a designated chair for executive session motions and roll call votes. Members compressed semifinalist interviews into back-to-back Mondays, Nov. 21 and Nov. 28, after Gillette warned that two candidates are already finalists elsewhere and that "the faster we move, the better." Interviews will run in 70-minute blocks starting at 6 p.m., with members opting for in-person sessions over Zoom even for out-of-state applicants. The committee will forward two to five unranked names to the Select Board, which has scheduled its own finalist interviews for Dec. 10. The panel adjourned into executive session at 6:36 p.m. with Gillette and acting Town Manager John Bugbee.
