Wayland Public Schools published its School & Community News bulletin for Oct. 21, listing several upcoming community events and school dates.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the completed Wayland Community Pool Mural Initiative took place Oct. 25 from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. outside the mural. The newsletter said the mural effort began "in response to two deeply troubling incidents of hateful graffiti" and became "a shared community decision to transform the space into something beautiful and welcoming."

Navigate Education Partners will host an inclusive trick-or-treat event Oct. 31 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in the Tally Ho/Red Barn neighborhood, offering a low-sensory, stroller- and wheelchair-friendly route with allergy-friendly and non-food treats. No RSVP is required.

The Wayland Girl Scouts are collecting wrapped candy for troops overseas from Oct. 31 through Nov. 6, with drop-off locations at Wayland elementary schools and the Wayland Community Center, and also at Wayland Middle School for its students.

The Wayland Free Public Library is holding Halloween programming this month, including a Halloween Sweet Science event Oct. 29 for ages 9 and up and an after-hours Werewolf game night Oct. 30 for grades 6-12. Details are available on the library's events page.

The first meeting of a new kindergarten Daisy Girl Scout troop will be held Nov. 6 from 6 to 7:15 p.m. at the Wayland Middle School Library, with parents and caregivers invited to attend.

The Wayland Public Schools Foundation will hold a Trivia Night fundraiser Nov. 10, open to families, teens, local businesses and community organizations. Registration is available through the trivia night registration form.

The Wayland High School Theater Ensemble will present the musical "Mary Poppins" Nov. 19 and 20 at 7 p.m., Nov. 21 at 5 p.m., and Nov. 22 at 1 p.m. Tickets are available through the show's ticket page.

The newsletter also noted there will be no school Nov. 11 and on Nov. 26 and 27.
