Sherman's Bridge to close Nov. 9 for rehab project
Wayland and Sudbury will fully close Sherman's Bridge to all traffic starting Nov. 9 for a rehabilitation project expected to last about 12 weeks, with reopening anticipated by Feb. 1, 2027.
The Town of Wayland announced Oct. 23 that Sherman's Bridge will close completely to traffic starting Monday, Nov. 9, as the towns of Wayland and Sudbury begin the Sherman's Bridge Rehabilitation Project.
No vehicles will be permitted to cross the bridge for the duration of construction. The town said no access across the bridge will be allowed, and detour route signage will be in place while the work continues.
Construction is expected to take about 12 weeks, with substantial completion and the bridge's reopening anticipated by Feb. 1, 2027. The town cautioned that the timeline depends on weather and conditions, and the schedule may be adjusted because of unforeseen circumstances.
Residents can find detour routes, project details and construction updates on the project website.
The town thanked residents for their patience and cooperation during the rehabilitation work.
