Wayland School Committee appoints David Fleischman superintendent in 5-0 vote
WAYLAND -- November 4, 2024, Wayland School Committee unanimously appoints David Fleischman as superintendent. The committee voted 5-0 Monday night to name Fleischman to the post and to empower member Erin Gibbons to finalize the language of the employment agreement with legal counsel and sign on the committee's behalf. Members Erin Muller, Christina, Kate Sambuco, Betsy Cullen and Gibbons all voted yes on a roll call taken immediately after the panel returned from an executive session held under M.G.L. Chapter 30A, Section 21(a)(2) to discuss strategy for non-union personnel negotiations. "Congratulations, everyone. We've appointed a new superintendent," a member said, noting the action was "subject to final contract signature." The committee adjourned on a second unanimous roll call without discussing salary or start date in open session.
