Wayland Recreation Commission re-elects Perlman, Foster as co-chairs
WAYLAND — May 8, 2023 — Wayland Recreation Commission re-ups Perlman and Foster as co-chairs, sets summer agenda around lights and AEDs. The board unanimously kept David Perlman and Asa Foster atop the commission, welcomed new member Mark Norton and scheduled meetings for June 5, July 10 and Aug. 21. Member Greg pushed to accelerate AED installations at town fields, citing a fatal cardiac arrest at a Belmont ballfield: "If we had that there, he would have lived." A safety-committee meeting with the police chief, fire chief and town manager is set for May 25. Commissioners debated lights at Arrigo King and Schwartz Field, with resident Joe Palazzotti of 16 Indian Road on hand to address neighbor concerns. Director Catherine reported Loker Field is on schedule for August completion with $75,000 still available to upgrade from seed to sod, and said every Recreation-related CPA article passed Town Meeting by 67 votes.
