Wayland Planning Board defers 60 Shaw Drive cluster hearing to June 13
WAYLAND -- April 11, 2023, Wayland Planning Board punts 60 Shaw Drive cluster hearing to June 13 over bylaw and notice gaps. The board voted 4-0 to continue Mendler Woods EcoDevelopment's application for a five-lot conservation cluster special permit and definitive subdivision on 8.69 acres, identified as PB23-01. Attorney Jay Talerman argued the town's 50-foot roadway setback should not apply where the proposed road tracks an existing private right-of-way, calling the new roadway only the loop "that intersects" that way. Chair Anette S. Lewis flagged that the public notice covered just two parcels though the project relies on easement rights across a third (map 39, parcel 15A), and questioned conflicts with a 7.27-acre open space designation in the Five Paths subdivision decision. Member Dan Hill said he was "coming around to not really seeing this as a really big deal." The board also continued the Council on Aging Community Center matter 4-0 to May 23.
