Wayland Conservation Commission moves toward formal violation on high school turf field

WAYLAND — April 12, 2023 — Wayland Conservation Commission signals formal violation on high school turf field after two-year stall. Chair Sean P. Fair told the April 12 meeting he had received no written reply to a Feb. 3 violation notice and would move toward a formal finding, saying he is "done playing with this turf field." Conservation Administrator Linda Hansen said contractors hired by the school side plan to flush the field's stormwater piping, install a coffer dam at the discharge point and add a larger capture screen to trap crumb rubber. The commission separately released the performance bond on 27 Bayfield Road and was told by Commissioner John Sullivan that more than $300,000 in old guarantees remains on deposit from the Brian Monahan era. A Certificate of Compliance for River's Edge at 490 Boston Post Road was held back over a failed meadow seed mix and missing vegetated buffer. Commissioner Joanne Barnett said she will step down June 1.
