Wayland Planning Board continues Shaw Drive subdivision hearing to July 11
WAYLAND -- June 13, 2023, Wayland Planning Board punts Shaw Drive subdivision to July amid setback fight. The board on Tuesday continued a public hearing on Mendler Woods Eco-Development's five-lot conservation cluster proposal at 60 Shaw Drive after roughly two hours of debate over whether the project can build a subdivision road across a shared 30-foot right of way without a 15-foot setback from abutting open land. Chair Anette S. Lewis said she has referred multiple legal questions to town counsel and warned against approving a plan that could leave the town "subject to a lawsuit." Abutter Rob Siliberti, owner of the neighboring Five Paths parcel, told the board he has granted no rights to the applicant: "That land would need to be purchased from me." Separately, the board unanimously reappointed Mary to the Municipal Affordable Housing Trust and Town Planner Robert announced a $30,000 state Community Planning Grant for MBTA Communities zoning. The hearing resumes July 11.
