WAYLAND -- October 8, 2025, Wayland Personnel Board tables sick leave rewrite after chair flags overlooked 2016 policy. Chair Maryanne Peabody told the Oct. 8 meeting that a 2016 version of the non-union sick leave policy, not the 2001 version posted on the town website, had been the operative rule, and asked that any amendment be framed as a revision to it. HR Manager Kate O'Ryan said the issue surfaced while processing buyback payments for two retiring employees and that town counsel directed the fix to the Select Board first "just to fix this one piece." O'Ryan will produce a redline combining the 2016 language with proposed updates for the Nov. 5 meeting. The board also approved May 6 open-session minutes 3-0 and heard a Step 2 firefighters' grievance in executive session from 4:15 to 5:38 p.m.
