Wayland Personnel Board approves revised town manager office job descriptions

WAYLAND -- November 6, 2023, Wayland Personnel Board approves two job description rewrites, flags low pay scale. The board voted 5-0 Monday to approve updated descriptions for executive assistant to the town manager and management analyst, correcting an error that had listed the analyst at grade N8 instead of N6. HR Manager Kate said the changes follow a management analyst's departure last week and shift the office back to one executive assistant and one analyst, reversing a structure put in place by former Town Administrator Louise Miller. Chair Maryanne Peabody warned the N5 scale was "light" for the market and urged shifting the range toward a $60,000 start. The board also voted 5-0 to release Sept. 12 executive session minutes and committed to drafting personnel bylaw revisions in-house ahead of the Jan. 15 town meeting article deadline.
