Wayland Housing Trust releases $140,000 for Good Shepherd permit fee

WAYLAND — June 25, 2024 — Wayland Affordable Housing Trust advances $140,000 to Good Shepherd, backs Locust Street micro-units. The trust voted 4-0 Tuesday to release $140,000 to St. Anne's as partial payment of its previously committed $250,000, reimbursing a building permit fee the developer paid before fiscal year end to lock in affordable inventory credit. Chair Mike Cady acknowledged "exposure" if Town Meeting later declines to authorize the offsetting transfer but said he was "pretty comfortable" it would pass. The trust also voted unanimously to issue a letter of support for Matt O'Connor's proposed five-unit micro-unit cluster at 67A Locust Street, to be operated by Minute Man Arc for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Housing development manager Andy Rickhart told the trust that 85 percent of such adults still live with parents awaiting placement. Members separately authorized up to $5,000 for an attorney to draft condominium documents for the 12 Hammond Road Habitat for Humanity conversion from rental to for-sale.
