Wayland housing trust eyes April closing on 12 Hammond Habitat project
WAYLAND -- January 13, 2025, Wayland's affordable housing trust expects April clearance for Habitat for Humanity at 12 Hammond Road. Chair Michael Staiti told the Jan. 13 remote meeting he is filing the state eligibility reapplication this week, with condominium documents from outside counsel nearly final and a three-to-four-month Land Court deregistration underway. A separate $140,000 reimbursement to Good Shepherd for a building permit remains frozen pending assurance the town could recover funds if the project fails; Staiti dismissed a proposed promise-to-repay agreement with no collateral behind it. Members balked at a $50,000 consultant fee floated for a supportive-housing project on Loker Street owned by developer Matt O'Connor, with Staiti saying he would only spend trust money on a consultant tied to the town-owned 212 Cochituate Road parcel. The trust unanimously approved Oct. 29 minutes and set its next meeting for March 18.
