Wayland Historical Commission endorses five CPC applications in single meeting

WAYLAND — November 6, 2023 — Wayland Historical Commission endorses five CPC applications in marathon November meeting. Commissioners voted in support of Town Clerk Trudy Wade's multi-year, roughly $200,000 plan to preserve documents in the town vault, beginning with about $45,000 in the first year; abutter Linda Malapott's pursuit of approximately $300,000 in additional funding to finish the four-arch Old Stones Bridge restoration after the August low bid came in at $766,000 against $684,000 remaining; the Wayland Historical Society's $55,000 heat pump conversion, presented by board member Gretchen Schubert; a $16,900 library package covering an 1895 American Express book-delivery box and an 1870 trustee record book; and a $55,500 assessor's office request to treat records dating to 1778 at the Northeast Document Conservation Center. The commission also authorized its own application of up to $5,000 for lab supplies and voted to withhold a $400 payment to videographer Chris Thompson until requested edits to a four-minute archaeology video are completed. Chair Katherine Gardner-Westcott abstained on the Historical Society vote, citing her employment there.
