Wayland Finance Committee elects Hoyle chair, O'Herlihy vice chair

WAYLAND — September 9, 2024 — Wayland Finance Committee elects new chair and vice chair as FY26 budget season tightens. Members unanimously elected Michael Hoyle as chair and Brian O'Herlihy as vice chair, ending outgoing Chair Pam Roman's 2 1/2-year run, and learned that member Jonathan Barnett resigned the same day. Finance Director Brian Keveney told the committee the fiscal 2026 budget is being built without an operating override but that a Middlesex Retirement System assessment came in at 9.3 percent versus a budgeted 6 percent, and that roughly $7.4 million in excluded debt is anticipated — about $5.5 million for the high school wastewater project. With town meeting moved up to April 7 and 9, O'Herlihy warned the timeline "sounded like it was two months delayed from the last two years." The committee also approved its annual report and assigned April as its representative on the capital planning task force.
