Wayland assessors table CPA and annual reports pending full-board review
WAYLAND — September 9, 2024 — Wayland assessors table two FY2024 reports, accelerate tax recap calendar by a week. Meeting remotely Sept. 9 with three of five members present, the Board of Assessors unanimously voted to defer both its Community Preservation Act surcharge report and its annual town report until Sept. 23, ahead of a Sept. 30 submission deadline. Acting chair Massimo Taurisano presided alongside member Steven Klitgord; Chair Zachariah L. Ventress was absent. The board ratified August minutes recording a $140,533.06 fourth motor vehicle excise commitment covering 410 bills. Staff laid out an FY2025 disclosure period of Oct. 21 to Nov. 1, with proposed-value postcards mailing Oct. 7, a Nov. 18 classification hearing with the Select Board, and a Dec. 2 tax recap target — "one week ahead" of last year's schedule. Klitgord, who will be in Paris on the original Oct. 7 meeting date, also pitched a one-stop residents' webpage: "Be proactive — that's all," Taurisano said.
