Wayland energy committee endorses adding student associate member

WAYLAND — October 3, 2022 — Wayland Energy and Climate Committee votes unanimously to add a student associate member. The Oct. 3 motion, made by Chair Ellen Tohn, asks the Select Board to approve the non-voting seat at its Oct. 17 meeting; associate member Paul Dale drafted both the proposal and a recruiting flyer aimed at Wayland High School. Dale said he had already coordinated with the principal and the faculty advisor to the high school's climate committee. Tom Sciacca predicted recruitment would run teacher-to-student, saying "a teacher will approach a kid" rather than the reverse. Separately, Tohn announced the town's sustainability manager position posted Oct. 3 at $73,000 to $95,000, open until filled, and confirmed a required Community Choice Aggregation public hearing for 7 p.m. Oct. 17 with comments due Nov. 17. Acting Town Manager Steven Crane departs Oct. 31.
