Wayland CPC sends $371,000 pool, $400,000 bridge requests to Town Meeting

WAYLAND — January 4, 2024 — Wayland CPC advances $371,000 pool and $400,000 Stones Bridge articles to Annual Town Meeting. The Community Preservation Committee, chaired by Susan Weinstein with Vice-Chair Doug Stotz on the phone, also freed $100,000 previously earmarked for the Launch Away housing program by returning it to uncommitted funds. The Stones Bridge vote splits $100,000 from historic preservation and $300,000 from uncommitted, contingent on written sign-off from Framingham, where one arch sits. Resident Linda told the committee scrapping the eight-year-old project would be "unconscionable," noting prior appropriations of $480,000 in 2015 and $300,000 in 2019. Members also recommended $55,000 for Grout-Heard House HVAC (7-0-1, with Katherine Gardner Wescott abstaining), $28,000 for a two-year housing services contract, $6,000 for purple loosestrife biocontrol, and up to $30,000 from admin funds for pool design. A roughly $1 million Cochituate Park playground ask was deferred pending a master plan, with a recreation-only set-aside article to be drafted.
