Wayland CPC adds $3,700 for Grout-Heard House pre-design work
WAYLAND -- October 18, 2023, Wayland CPC approves $3,700 in additional admin funds to keep Grout-Heard House study on track. Chair Susan Weinstein's committee voted 5-0-1 Wednesday to add $2,500 to the original $17,500 allocation after the Historical Society's RFP drew only one qualified bidder at $20,000, plus $1,200 to remove attic insulation blocking the structural consultant's view of the framing. Member Katherine Gardner Wescott abstained as a Historical Society employee. A proposed $5,000 site plan was deferred; Vice-Chair Doug Stotz urged restraint until "we have a better sense of how much oil is in that tank." The committee also unanimously approved $4,350 in annual dues to the Massachusetts Community Preservation Coalition and previewed four pending historic-preservation requests from the library, town clerk, assessor and Historical Society, plus likely school-department applications for playground work at Loker and Claypit.
