WAYLAND — December 14, 2023 — Wayland CPA committee hears $1.8M in requests against roughly $1.26M available. The Community Preservation Committee took testimony Thursday on nearly a dozen applications and deferred decisions to Jan. 4. Doug Stotz projected $1.3 million in FY25 CPA revenue, with the state match falling to $225,000. The Eliza J. Norton Foundation is seeking roughly $1 million for an inclusive Cochituate Park playground after gifting the town $175,000 for new dugouts. The Permanent Municipal Building Committee recommended an additional $400,000 for Old Stones Bridge after a fourth failed bid; resident Sherman Hallman warned "if the far end falls down, it'll take the end we just fixed with it." Wayland Community Pool Inc. President Ben Downs asked for $401,000 to replace 60-year-old plumbing as the nonprofit faces a $650,000 mortgage and $140,000 annual loss.
