Wayland Assessors fill senior tax relief seat and secretary post

WAYLAND — July 8, 2024 — Wayland Assessors install Klitgord on senior tax relief panel, elect Taurisano secretary. The Board of Assessors voted unanimously Monday to name Steven Klitgord as its representative to the Senior Tax Relief Committee, replacing Susan Ruffo, and to elect Massimo Taurisano as board secretary after the seat opened with Sharon Burke's departure. Chair Zachariah L. Ventress nominated Klitgord, who said he wanted "a role and our voice for encouraging seniors" to remain in town. Director of Assessing Robert reported 579 site visits so far this fiscal year — 519 tied to building permits — and said new growth has already climbed to roughly $400,000 against a conservative $300,000 budget. Members also approved June 11 and June 14 minutes before adjourning at 6:24 p.m. into executive session on abatements.
