Wayland assessors commit $42.2 million in FY24 preliminary taxes
WAYLAND -- June 13, 2023, Wayland assessors commit $42.2 million in FY24 preliminary taxes in first Munis-era filing. The Board of Assessors voted 3-0 Tuesday to approve first- and second-quarter preliminary tax commitments totaling $42,225,363.24, $41,135,263.64 in real estate, $540,126.72 in personal property and $550,245.88 in Community Preservation Act surcharge. Members Massimo Taurisano and Steven Klitgord joined Sharon Burke, who presided, on each motion. The board also approved the fiscal 2023 third motor vehicle excise commitment of $152,985.46 on a valuation of $8,085,563 across 400 bills, plus 50 May abatements worth $8,330.62. The director told members "Munis is alive," calling the votes the office's first commitments processed through the town's new financial software. Supplemental bills on 14 to 20 properties are expected at the June 27 meeting.
