WAYLAND — June 11, 2024 — Wayland assessors commit more than $128,000 in pro-rata and supplemental taxes, mostly tied to Oxbow Road. The Board of Assessors on June 11 unanimously approved fiscal 2023 and fiscal 2024 pro-rata commitments against Launcher Fund One LLC, which bought the 12-building, formerly federally owned parcel at 96 Oxbow Road for $4,002,000 on May 12, 2023. The fiscal 2023 bill totaled $9,079.47 and the fiscal 2024 bill $63,042.71, calculated under Chapter 59, Section 2C. The board separately committed $55,178.25 in fiscal 2024 supplemental taxes and acknowledged zero dollars in Chapter 61 rollback and omitted-and-revised assessments. Vice-Chair Philip David Parks, acting as chair, questioned Director of Assessing Robert Lent on deed verification — "what could go wrong with this" — before voting yes alongside members Douglass McNeilly, Steven Klitgord and Zachariah L. Ventress. The board tabled fiscal 2025 preliminary warrants citing accounting software problems and scheduled a Friday, June 14 follow-up.
