Wayland Cultural Council installs new chair after losing four members

WAYLAND — June 11, 2024 — Wayland Cultural Council names Pallavi Nagesha chair after four members exit in three weeks. The council formally appointed Nagesha at its June 11 meeting following the resignation of former Chair Rachel Simon-Burts effective May 30 and the immediate resignations of members Lynn Kahn and Ashley Wheeler; member Nora Rothschild's term ends June 20. "We've lost four members in the span of three weeks," Nagesha said, urging recruitment. Two prospective youth members, Alyssa Ao and Maddie Sajak, are pending Select Board approval. Nagesha reported one utility box on Route 30 is painted and paid, and a second fish-themed box by a high school student is complete. The council aims to have banners up at Routes 20 and 27 before the September grant cycle. The next meeting is July 9, online.
